Everything collected during the drive will be given to Seattle’s Rainbow of Magnolia Fountains of Life, a volunteer-run charitable organization that works tirelessly to improve living conditions in African countries by providing clean water and sanitation, sustainable agriculture techniques, and support for local schools.

The soccer gear will be distributed to the children of these remote villages, where soccer has become a much-needed escape from the rigors of their daily lives.

Fountains of Life founder Darek Stuj began his non-profit organization five years ago, when workers of his company, Rainbow of Magnolia Landscaping, all volunteered to donate a week’s wages to jumpstart his effort. Darek travels to Africa at his own expense, with a specific project planned. Below is a wonderful video that chronicles his latest project from earlier this year. Next up: In January 2013, he plans to help build an orphanage in the ImatianivillageofTanzaniafor children who have been orphaned due to the spread of HIV/AIDS.
